Vehicle Story
The Lotus Elan 2S 130 was introduced in the 1960s as an evolution of the original Lotus Elan. It was designed to be more powerful and a refined version of its predecessor. The Elan 2S 130 features a sleek and aerodynamic design, typical of Lotus cars of that era. Its lightweight fibreglass body sits on a steel backbone chassis which plays a vital role in contributing to it’s nimble handling characteristics. The '130' in its name refers to the power output, courtesy of a 1.6 litre inline-four engine. This engine was renowned for its smoothness and rev-happy nature, providing spirited performance for its time. Generally the Lotus engine was paired with a four speed manual transmission, with some variants benefitting from a five speed. The manual transmission adds to the engaging driving experience allowing drivers to fully exploit the car's performance capabilities.
Today, Lotus Elans are a sought after commodity and a vehicle that is well respected within the classic sports car communities. Not only have they become investments for some owners but they are a way of connecting with an bygone era of motoring that celebrates automotive excellence and styling.
